Pilgrim Creek Snowmobile Park and Campground







Brief description:   Somewhat remote snowmobile park that has a staging area for winter and is available for camping during the rest of the year.

Open Dates:  Estimated year round if road is open.

Number of Campsites:  No “official” campsites, large paved parking lot area available to park trailers and RV’s.

Length of Stay:  14 days unless otherwise approved.

Fees:  Free.
 
Road to Pilgrim Creek Area
Affiliation:  Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Location/Address:  8 miles from McCloud, California.  From McCloud travel east on Hwy 89 for approximately 3 miles and turn left on Pilgrim Creek Road (Road #13).  Travel 5 miles on the paved road and the park will be on your left. 

Elevation:  Approximately 3,500 – 4,000 ft.

General Description:  Large paved parking area in somewhat remote area, but fully accessible by paved roads.  Could be a nice free spot to camp in RV or trailer overnight while traveling the area.

Brief description:  Campground set among pines on the bank of Lake Britton near McArthur-Burney Falls California State Park.

Open Dates:  May through September

Number of Campsites:  7 campsites ~ 2 may be used for groups, potable water according to     P. G & E.  No potable water according to the Forest Service.  Maximum spur 20 feet.  RVs up to 35 ft. may be accommodated in some spots according to P. G & E.  No reservations at this time.

Length of Stay:  14 Days 

Fees:  $8 per night.  Extra charges may occur for additional vehicles

Affiliation:  Lassen National Forest, but administered by P. G. & E.

Location/Address:  Located on the North Shore of Lake Britton along Hwy 89 just before crossing the bridge over the lake.  About 7 ½ miles north from the intersection of Highway 89 and Hwy 299.  Campground is located about ½ mile from Hwy 89 turn off along dirt road that parallels lake.

Elevation:  Approx. 2800 feet.

General Description:  The campground is set among the shaded oak and pines along the bank of Lake Britton.  Warm in the summer and area can be very busy.  Popular with families and those with small boats. 



Nearby Services:  Fuel, and groceries about 13 miles available in Burney, a small town of about 3,000.  Nearest medical facility is in Fall River Mills about 16 miles Northeast on Hwy 299.

Cattle Camp


Affiliation: National Forest Service Campground

Number of Campsites: 27 Sites, Maximum Spur for trailers, 32 feet.

Length of Stay: 14 days, first come, first served. No reservations.

Location/address: Shasta-Trinity National Forest, McCloud Ranger Station. Approximately 10 1/2 miles from the McCloud Ranger Station along Hwy 89. Look for campground sign on the south side of the road, turn and go about another 1/2 mile (or less) and look for the sign Cattle Camp and the entrance.

Elevation: 3,700 ft.

Fee: $15 per night, self registration. Holders of Senior and Access Passports are entitled to a 50% reduction in nightly fees.
Season: May to October

General Description: Lovely campground area, very popular in the summer months, arrive early to obtain a campsite. The Upper McCloud River is a major attraction in the area with trails to lovely falls, middle, upper and lower falls. Campsites will accommodate mid-sized trailers and tents nicely.

Nearby services: Groceries, restaurants, shopping located in McCloud (about 11 miles to the west) and Mt. Shasta City about 25 miles to the west and north). Hospital located in Mt. Shasta City.
